About me

Hi, I'm Steven.

I’m also a logophile (word lover) and dendrophile (nature lover). I have several loves. I’m not ashamed to admit this.

Who am I?

I’m a writer, editor, and publisher living in the Pine Tree State (Maine). “Publisher?” you might ask. Publisher of what? Head over to 12 Willows Press to learn more!

Why focus on the environment?

Because I got tired of feeling discouraged. The news is so doom and gloom that it seems the sky will fall any minute! I know things are in a rough state, but I also know complacency won’t help. Solutions are out there--they tend to be overshadowed by the problems they are trying to solve. That’s unfortunate, and it’s something I want to change. I much prefer reading about solutions to problems. I think most people do as well.

Because I’m curious about our beautiful world, its vast diversity, and its endless mysteries. From the tiniest of microbes buried miles below the surface to the most significant life form on Earth, a fungus found in Oregon, there’s so much to explore. The American physicist Frank Oppenheimer said, “The best way to learn is to teach.” Indeed. For me, I’m learning while I’m writing.

Because we got ourselves into this mess, and we can get ourselves out of it.
